Cockpit Modifications
Ensure Aircraft Lighting Compliance for NVGs
Night Vision Goggles (NVGs) greatly enhance night vision capabilities but they must be utilized properly in the correct environment to be effective and safe. Typically, aircraft cockpit instruments and displays need to be modified in order to be compatible with the NVGs.
The Need for Modification
The NVG operational light spectrum requires that the inherent infrared illumination in standard cockpit lighting be eliminated so that there is only visible light available to the pilot and the flight crew. Without modification, when light from the aircraft instruments, radios or other light sources, such as multi-function displays (MFDs), enters the image intensifier tube of the NVG through the objective lens, the NVGs will become less sensitive to the radiance of the outside scene, causing the pilot or crewmember to lose visual acuity when viewing objects outside the cockpit. Aircraft modifications allow goggles to operate at maximum performance with minimal amounts of overt infrared lighting. With the goggles' gain control amplification, the user gets maximum visual acuity in a night time environment.
Experienced Team Streamlines NVIS Lighting Approvals
NVIS Aircraft Lighting Modifications require operators to obtain approvals from regulators, such as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), in order to be compliant with the Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR). Approval for this modification process is done through a supplemental type certificate (STC) or is part of the aircraft type certificate if completed at the aircraft original equipment manufacturer (OEM).

NFC NVIS Aircraft Lighting Installations
Night Flight Concepts installation of NVIS compatible external and internal lighting systems is performed on the client's aircraft and at the client's location. The installation is completed by FAA certified airframe and power plant (A&P) technicians from the Night Flight Concepts Maintenance Team. The cost and time of the installation will depend on the type of aircraft and the parts that it needs in order to complete the modification. Our experienced team delivers the solution you need with speed, efficiency and exceptional customer care.
